STARS SANS FARDS

April's issue of French Elle featured images of celebrities including model Eva Herzigova and actresses Sophie Marceau and Monica Bellucci without any makeup or retouching in order to show their natural beauty.

This can seem kind of "natural" but, in the world we live, it is practically a revolution. I agree that this is kind of an extreme - no trick at all - but, are these pictures showing that the future of beauty is going in this direction?

  2. I think it was a gimmicky stunt. Other magazines have done spreads, maybe not covers, but it's nothing new. And these women are considered to be quite beautiful, so even without make up, they are still attractive. Try this with those Givenchy girls and it would not have been as successful.

  4. I think the tendency nowdays is to wear makeup looking as if you are not wearing any.
Women try to look younger or not show their skin imperfections, but thanks to the new fond de teint formulas, we can achieve this without looking as if we are wearing a mask. Is it better not wearing any at all? Well, I admit that only in summer, when I'm relaxed, without bags under my eyes, with a good skin tone...I feel comfortable without makeup. And, although my boyfriend insists in that I look better with my face washed, I think he is blind by love...
So, makeup, as well as clothes, or hair style...are just tools that women have to feel more beautiful. It's in your hands to use them for expressing who you are or looking like something different.

  5. In my opinion, this is an interesting trend in terms of "natural beauty" but I agree that this is not going to be a general tendency. Make-up is one of the main attraction of the whole fashion industry and invites consumers to dream...
But what about reducing the retouching in pictures? Good photographers used to produce amazing pictures with the correct light and scenario, they didn't need hours of photoshop to make them look "perfect" but inexpressive.
