FRENCH ELLE GOES FOR A PLUS-SIZE MODEL ON THE COVER

Elle is not the first magazine to portray curvy models lately but it is the first one to do it on a cover.

Latest French Elle's issue portrays Tara Lynn - plus-size model - on its cover and develop a section focused on the model as a symbol of the new curvy, real ideal. Some see this as an special action, others as a development of the emerging trend but we can say it certainly is a big step in portraying chic as an attitude plus outfit, not a collection of bones.

VOGUE CURVY

Italy - the country of designers - has been the first place in which the online version of Vogue has launched a section dedicated to full-figured women called Vogue Curvy.

The main purpose of this section is to rediscover curvaceous women due to the fact that style has no size. I completely support this initiative, it was about time...

ID COVER; SUPER NATURE

ID MAGAZINE portrays three of the most famous 90s top models in its latest cover. Altough Eva, Helena and Claudia have a sexy attitude and the whole aesthetics is really attractive, they look quite different than before and it doesn't always mean better.
In my opinion, Eva and Claudia look too skinny, Eva has a teenager body and has lost the voluptuous look that made her special when she modelled for Wonderbra...why do we want to see these sex symbols look like skinny teenagers?

ALL WALKS BEYOND THE CATWALK

All walks beyond the catwalk initiative started by giving each designer the opportunity to collaborate with the woman who will model the garment at London Fashion Week.

As these pictures show, cutting-edge design is equally aspirational on a variety of body shapes and not beholden to one standard.

Is diversity the medium-term trend??

DIVERSE MODELS ON TORONTO'S CATWALKS

Toronto is showing diverse models on its catwalks.
In the first two days of LG Fashion Week, both Sunny Fong and David Dixon previewed collections that broke the expected runway mould.

Dixon's models come from a variety of backgrounds. “I pick the girls I like,” the designer says. “I pick girls I think women can relate to.”

Fong employed two models – one of non-traditional age and another of non-traditional size.
"Other cities look to this unnatural ideal of what's beautiful," Fong says. "Toronto prefers a more relatable ideal so the runways reflect the city.
